Reading and Writing: Learn the English letter shapes and sounds using Jolly Phonics
and Kiz Phonics. Letter tracing and pencil/crayon control practice.
Level 1 Speaking and Listening: Answer basic questions, greetings and goodbyes, basic
classroom instructions, colours, shapes, animals and counting to 20.
Grammar: Learnt implicitly through phrases like ‘How are you?’ and ‘What’s your
name?’ from the Genki English software.
Reading and Writing: Identify, segment and blend the letters in three letter
consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words and an introduction to sight words.
Level 2 Speaking and Listening: Answer more abstract questions such as ‘Which animal is
big?’ or ‘Do you like brocolli?’ Identify numbers 1-100.
Grammar: Built upon level 1. Improve response from ‘What’s this?’ ‘fish’ to a full
response ‘it’s a fish’.
Reading and Writing: Learn 2 letter consonant sounds (e.g. ch, ph, wh, th, sh, st, br) as
well as continuing sight words. An introduction to reading stories from Bob Books.
Level 3 Speaking and Listening: Expand vocabulary from level 1 and 2. Identify numbers
1-1000.
Grammar: Learn by conversing with the teacher during worksheet time. The students
will use English when asking for things in the classroom such as for crayons.
Reading and Writing: Learn 2 letter vowel and r controlled vowel sounds (e.g. oo, ea,
ur, ir, ai). Build confidence reading high frequency sight words and start to read
Level 4 independently.
Speaking and Listening: Learn mathematical terms such as plus or minus. Identify
numbers 1-10,000.
Grammar: Learn different grammar concepts such as pronouns and tenses.
