0 What is money?
When most people think of money, they think of it as a thing we can use to buy or
pay for something. But in the past, money was also something used in traditional and
religious ceremonies, such as weddings. We often think of money as coins or notes (cash)
but in the past people used many different things as 'money'.
Many people in the world today keep their money in banks. What most people don't know
is that banks are older than money. There were banks in Ancient Mesopotamia
and Ancient Egypt.
